Life Makeover: Minted Edition

Chapter 1 Smash

"There are some things that you can't have in your life if you're not born with them. Robert, think about it carefully. Do you deserve me? Can a relationship bring food to the table? Just one of my clothes alone is worth your annual salary. What right do you have to claim you'll give me happiness? Wake up, Robert. This is the reality, not a fairy tale world where you can have things you're not worthy of. Please look at yourself in the mirror!"

Robert Zabinski looked at the stunning Marilyn Quesnell sitting opposite him, his lips trembling slightly.

There were two days left until he would graduate from university. He had fantasized about spending the rest of his life with Marilyn but did not expect she had asked him out today to say all this.

"Do you know why I asked you to come here?" Marilyn motioned to Robert to look around their surroundings. "It's common for me to come to this kind of luxury hotel. But what about you? These should be the best clothes you have, right? Don't you think you are out of place here? This is my world, whereas your world should be two blocks away. The flea market there is more suitable for you."

Marilyn's words were like a sharp knife stabbing into Robert's chest. However, he was unable to refute her.

"That's right. I'm merely from an extremely ordinary family. But she, on the other hand, can easily purchase bags worth tens of thousands of dollars without even batting an eyelid," he thought.

Sitting in such an environment, Marilyn was collected and at ease. Her gaze was full of confidence that came straight from deep within.

On the contrary, Robert felt uncomfortable with everything. In fact, he did not even know how to call the server over. Looking at the Friyxian food on the table, he did not even know where to begin digging in.

This sense of frustration hovered over Robert.

He had never been exposed to these things before. For an ordinary university student like him, spending 75 dollars in a karaoke lounge was already a high expense.

A handsome young man walked to the table and spoke to Marilyn gently. "All right, Marilyn. It's getting late. We should go back."

The man was well-dressed, and the Porsche key in his hand was particularly striking to Robert. The man helped Marilyn up gentlemanly, not even sparing Robert a glance the entire time.

Meanwhile, Robert's clothes, which cost less than 45 dollars in total, looked laughable compared to the man's well-tailored suit.

A smile appeared on Marilyn's exquisite face. "Robert Zabinski, we are over."

When Marilyn finished speaking, some people who walked by the table caused a breeze and blew out the candles on Robert's table. The already faint light suddenly disappeared, and in the shadow, Robert's expression could not be seen, nor did anyone pay attention to him. At this moment, no one would care about Robert at all.

Marilyn took the man's arm and walked out of the restaurant. The eye-catching Porsche at the entrance roared as its engine was awoken.

Though the candlelight went out, elegant music filled the restaurant. Several gossipy servers had long noticed what was happening at Robert's table. After Marilyn left, a server, Helena Smith, came over and asked in a low voice, "Sir, should I take these away?"

Marilyn's words were still lingering in Robert's mind. He couldn't forget the disdain and arrogance in her eyes. What hurt him most was not her criticism but her contempt.

It seemed as though his existence had nothing to do with her at all, and his life or death and emotions did not concern her simply because they were not from the same world.

Seeing that Robert did not answer, Helena glanced at the cheap casual clothes on him and curled her lips. "Sir, I'm taking these away, then," she informed coldly.

While speaking, Helena reached out to the plate in front of him.

Robert's head, which had been lowered all the time, suddenly raised, and he stared at the server in front of him with bloodshot eyes. His voice was somewhat hoarse as he questioned, "Did I say you could?"

Helena was startled by Robert's unexpected movement and subconsciously stepped back.

Robert stared at Helena and continued interrogating, "Did I say you could? Huh? Answer me! Did I say so? So this is your customer service? This is the customer service of a luxury hotel?"

Robert's voice suddenly rose, and his bellowing attracted the attention of the people nearby. Most of them looked at Helena.

In an instant, Helena was mortified. She had been receiving distinguished guests in such an environment for years, causing her to more or less look down on Robert, who looked poor. She immediately retorted, "Why are you flaring up at me? Vent your anger at the person who dumped you instead! Since you didn't say a word earlier, why are you acting pretentious now? Look at your loserish self! It's no wonder she'd dump you!"

"Ha! High-end? So this is the so-called high-end, huh?" Robert laughed out of anger and abruptly overturned the table in front of him. "High-end, my foot!"

Everything was scattered on the ground with an ear-piercing clatter.

Helena took a few steps back in shock, and then sneered, "Go on. Keep smashing! I'll see if you can afford to compensate for all of those. Did you think this is a place you can cause havoc in?"

Pantingly, Robert calmed down at once upon hearing the word "compensate."

He looked at the mess in front of him and thought, "Money. It's always about money. This server is respectful when facing others but wears that disdainful expression with me simply because I have no money! Marilyn also said those words and got into another man's car because I had no money!"

"Security, come and keep an eye on him. Don't let him run away!" Helena looked at Robert with a face full of ridicule.

An hour later, Robert sat in the hotel lobby dispiritedly. Helena looked at him from a short distance away and snickered. The tableware and accessories on that table earlier cost nearly 1,500 dollars. She couldn't wait to see what Robert's father would do later.

Right then, two middle-aged men walked in from the hotel entrance. One of them was Robert's father, Zachary Zabinski, and the other was Zidane Zimmer, Zachary's neighbor.

Zachary was frowning, and his steps sounded especially heavy. Evidently, he was suppressing his rage.

Robert immediately walked over and lowered his head. "Dad."

Robert was aware of the situation of his family. 1,500 dollars was not a small amount to them at all.

Noticing that his father had even called Zidane over, Robert reckoned his family likely could not afford to compensate. After all, their family's finances had always been tight.

Robert initially assumed he would get a scolding, judging from his father's expression.

"Smash them all," was all Zachary said instead, to Robert's shock.

"What?" Robert was slightly stunned.

Zachary lit a cigarette and slowly exhaled a mouthful of smoke. "I said, smash. Since you're upset today, just smash if you want to. I'll support you whatever happens."

With that, Zachary directly picked up the chair beside him and threw it toward a floor-to-ceiling window with all his strength.

Smash!

As the sound of glass cracking rang out, the floor-to-ceiling window of the hotel was smashed into pieces.

Chapter 2 Apologize

Helena's expression changed as she thought, "Never mind that that fellow tried to be pretentious here. Now, even his old man is this full of himself?" She yelled at once, "What are you doing? Who allowed you to piss all over here?"

Robert also hurried over to stop his father. "Dad, I know I was wrong. Dad!"

Zachary bit the cigarette and shouted, "Zidane, smash everything!"

Zidane looked ferocious and was clearly not someone to be trifled with. After hearing Zachary say that, he casually grabbed a chair and flung it in the air.

As a series of clatters resonated, all the expensive ornaments and glass tables and chairs were smashed into pieces.

The magnificent hotel lobby became a scene of chaos in a blink of an eye.

Standing aside, Robert was wholly dumbfounded.

"Stop! You guys, stop it!" After returning to her senses, Helena looked at the scene and yelled, "Security! Security, come here quick!"

The hotel's security guards immediately surrounded the trio.

"Stop me? Who in the world dares to stop me?" The ferocious-looking Zidane was six feet three inches tall. With a scar on his face and eyes like a wild beast, his menacing appearance terrified people with just one glance.

The security guards came over, but no one dared to get close upon seeing Zidane's fearsome countenance.

A few minutes later, Zachary casually threw away the only leg of a chair left in his hand and sat on the messy floor, panting. It was utter chaos around him.

Zidane also threw away the object in his hand and stood behind Zachary, scanning the surroundings.

"Phew. It's been a long time since I've felt so good." Zachary wiped the sweat on his forehead.

"Insane! You're all insane! The young insane one called over two old insane ones! You all like smashing things so much, huh? I'll see how you all can walk out of Grand Triumphant Hotel after causing such havoc here! All these things here will definitely bankrupt you!" screamed Helena.

Zachary waved a hand indifferently. "Hey, no matter how much we have to pay, we will be compensating the hotel. What does it have to do with you? What are you yelling here for? Go and get your superior here."

"Our superior? Do you think you deserve to meet him?" Helena pointed at Zachary. "You're all a bunch of deplorable people! Deplorable! All of you can forget about running away! Call the cops! Call the cops now!"

Screech!

A Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, worth nearly 300 thousand dollars, hastily pulled over at the hotel entrance. As the car door opened, a middle-aged man got out of the vehicle.

Noticing the car, Helena was overjoyed because her superior had arrived!

Adam Brown looked gloomy as he hastened into the hotel.

Helena mentally sneered, "Aren't you guys fearless? You love to smash things, huh? Now, Mr. Brown is here. Let's see how fearless you guys can be! With Mr. Brown's abilities, you guys can spend the rest of your lives in prison! How dare you deplorable people look down on the social standing of our superior?"

Adam strode toward the lobby, and Helena quickly stepped forward as if she was claiming credit. She said reverentially, "Mr. Brown, those people are the troublemakers! Let's just call the cops!"

Adam did not even spare Helena a glance. He looked at Zachary and strode over, his expression immensely grim.

Zachary re-lit a cigarette and took a puff. Looking at the gloomy Adam before him, he chuckled lightly. "Seems like your management ability is just so-so, after all. I understand my son's temperament. Anyone who can make him smash things violently must have crossed the line."

Adam's knees practically grew weak, and he lowered his head before Zachary, saying deferentially, "I'm sorry, Boss."

"Boss?" pondered everyone.

Adam's words had stunned Helena and Robert simultaneously, including those security guards. Only Zidane remained impassive and stood behind Zachary with a solemn expression.

"This person is Mr. Brown's boss?" thought Helena in terror.

Helena turned as white as a sheet in an instant. Since Adam had said so, there surely wouldn't be a mistake.

Zachary looked up at Helena and questioned, "I'm smashing the things in my own hotel. What are you calling the cops here for? I'm asking you; can't I smash my own properties, hum? Can't I?"

Terrified, Helena couldn't even say a word. The phone in her hand fell to the floor with a thud.

Zachary's question had landed a direct blow on her. Of course, she wouldn't dare say that he couldn't smash his own properties!

Adam did not dare to say a word at present. He simply kept his head lowered as if waiting for his punishment.

Zachary glimpsed at Adam and said, "It's fine. Go and ask my son if he's still mad or not. If he is, let him continue smashing for a while. Otherwise, get people here to clean this place up."

"Yes." Adam nodded and then turned to Robert with an ingratiating expression. "Mr. Zabinski, what do you say..."

Right now, Robert's mind was a complete blank. He could barely comprehend what was going on.

Zachary gazed at his son and waved a hand. "Robert, this is our hotel. Feel free to smash anything you want! You're my only son. How can I possibly let you be wronged?"

"Our hotel?" thought Robert.

Zachary's words had caused Robert's brain to crash and malfunction.

Grand Triumphant Hotel was the most upscale hotel in Yrinas. Typically, Robert always looked at it with envy when passing by. Had Marilyn not asked him to come this time, he would never have stepped foot into this place. Yet, right now, he had just found out this hotel was actually owned by his family.

Robert knew his father's character. The latter was not one who liked cracking jokes. Besides, looking at Adam's reaction, Robert reckoned this wasn't a prank at all.

He mused, "I'm actually a scion?"

This feeling baffled Robert. Just an hour ago, his girlfriend had broken up with him and got into another man's car because Robert was poor. Helena, the server, had also treated him with such a poor attitude because he was poor.

But now, Robert's father suddenly told him that he was a scion and that the best hotel in the city was theirs. Robert could hardly imagine how rich their family must be!

"All right, brat. You were too young before, so your mother and I didn't tell you about some matters. Let's go. There are some things you should know now." Zachary flicked the cigarette butt and got up, walking toward the private elevator in the hotel lobby. "Zidane, wait for me here."

Several beautiful receptionists immediately bowed, and one of them stepped forward and pressed the elevator button for Zachary in advance.

Robert followed behind Zachary, feeling surreal.

At last, Adam breathed a sigh of relief, stood up, and walked to Helena. He berated, "Get out right this instant! You're fired! I'll check the surveillance footage myself later. If I find out you've violated the hotel customer service regulations, you'll pay for it!"

Helena was in a panic and deeply regretted her actions. Her legs grew weak, and she slumped directly to the ground.

Who could've imagined the loser who was just dumped by someone would turn out to be the son of the hotel's boss?

Outside the hotel, in a Porsche driving on the road, the man was talking to Marilyn.

"Marilyn, after your graduation ceremony, we can go to—"

"Pull up right ahead. I'm a little tired," interrupted Marilyn plainly. She was sitting on the passenger seat as she stroked her forehead.

The young man who was driving froze momentarily. "Marilyn, we just got—"

"Kendrick, I'll head back by myself. Stop the car." Marilyn took a deep breath.

Seeing her insistence, Kendrick Zabel could only comply. With that, Marilyn got out of the vehicle.

At this time, it was near dusk, and the clouds in the sky were red.

Marilyn looked back in the direction of Grand Triumphant Hotel and couldn't help thinking about the look on Robert's face in the hotel earlier.

Robert had been pale and silent, making Marilyn's heart clench in pain.

Had she had a choice, she genuinely did not want to hurt Robert. However, there were many things beyond her control as she was born into a wealthy family. Even if she liked him, her family wouldn't allow her to be with an ordinary person.

"I'm sorry," Marilyn murmured, her delicate face drained of color.

Marilyn had felt worse than Robert did when she told him they were over.

"The graduation day will likely be the last time we meet..." she added.

The office on the top floor of Grand Triumphant Hotel was luxuriously decorated.

Robert sat in there, looking a little ill at ease.

"Brat, now you know Grand Triumphant Hotel belongs to our family, but do you know which company it belongs to?" Zachary glanced at Robert, who was sitting on the couch awkwardly, and beamed.

Chapter 3 Definitely Cannot Spend It All

"Dad, how could I possibly know that? It's my first time at Grand Triumphant Hotel today." Robert smiled embarrassedly. "Although I'm studying finance in university, I only know some world-class companies and cases."

"Ha-ha! That's true!" Zachary laughed and pressed a button on the desk. "Carlos, come in for a moment."

A few minutes later, an older man who looked to be in his 60s entered the office and looked at the father-son duo.

"Mr. Zachary Zabinski, Mr. Robert Zabinski."

"Carlos, I'll leave this brat to you from now on. Haven't there been a lot of auctions and banquets recently? Take him to participate in some of them so that he can understand the status of the Zabinski family in Yrinas," Zachary instructed.

Carlos Camidge lowered his head in acknowledgment. "Understood."

Zachary glanced at Robert and said, "Kid, it's hard to explain our family's business in just a few words. You might as well follow Carlos and learn as you play. Here's a card for you to use."

Zachary randomly took out a bank card and gave it to Robert.

Robert took a gander at it and subconsciously asked, "How much money is in it?"

"Why are you asking? With your current ability, you will definitely not be able to spend it all. Just use it as you wish."

"Not be able to spend it all..." wondered Robert.

"I've also learned about that girl from the Quesnell family. They have a small company in Yrinas that's not worth mentioning, but her family is influential in Acocester. I don't think you're capable enough to mess with the Quesnells right now. It'll require me to do it personally." Zachary looked at Robert while chuckling. "How about this? Why don't I buy out the Quesnells' properties in Acocester and let that Marilyn be your secretary? Then, you can pick on her however you want."

"Huh!" Robert was astounded again.

Robert knew little about Marilyn's family. When they were dating, she never once brought that up.

However, Robert was not stupid and could tell that Marilyn's family was indeed genuinely wealthy and influential based on her daily life.

they thought.

"Yo, isn't this Samuel? Even poor people like you are trying to party in nightclubs? Why do you only have a few bottles of beer? Can't bear to drink them?" A mocking voice sounded.

That person added, "The little pauper Robert is here too? Did you come here to drown your sorrows after being dumped by Marilyn? I bet she'll die laughing if she sees these 12 bottles of beer in front of you. It's no wonder she'd dump you!"

Chapter 4 So Prestigious

Robert and his three roommates instinctively turned their heads toward the source of that voice.

There stood a young man swaying his body to the rhythm of the spirited music in the nightclub.

Robert's group knew this young man, Jeremy Walker. He was also a student at Yrinas University, a scion, and had started driving a BMW 3 Series in his junior year. Wherever he went, he was the center of attention for all the girls, and he lived his life as though he was a peacock.

Upon hearing Jeremy's words, Samuel and the other two roommates couldn't help but glance over at Robert. They had only just learned about his breakup with Marilyn.

Marilyn was an absolute queen at Yrinas University. She had the looks, the taste, and the temperament that attracted suitors from the south campus to the north campus. However, no one had expected she would choose Robert in the end, which made Robert the enemy of almost all the male students on campus, prompting a lot of jealousy.

"Does my matter have anything to do with you?" Robert glimpsed at Jeremy.

"Do my words have anything to do with you, then?" Jeremy scorned. "I was just thinking, how can a pauper like you truly believe you deserve a girl like Marilyn? She's with Kendrick now, right? That dude is a wealthy guy!"

Kendrick was the one who spread the news about Marilyn being with him now.

After Jeremy finished speaking, he ignored Robert's group and looked at the four girls that Samuel had invited. With a smug expression, he asked, "Girls, why don't you all come to my table for a drink later?"

Jeremy pointed to his seat as he spoke. It was located close to the center of the bar, and two bottles of imported liquor worth almost 900 dollars were placed on a pedestal, which was brightly lit and looked grand.

The four girls' eyes lit up at once, but they still said, "No, thanks. We'll just sit here for a while and leave."

Jeremy didn't say anything further and left triumphantly after extending another invitation.

After Jeremy caused such a scene, Samuel and the others naturally lost interest in partying. Had it not been because they had already spent over 150 dollars today, they would have long left.

The four girls said they needed to use the restroom, but half an hour went by, and none of them returned.

Samuel scanned the crowded bar and asked a little anxiously, "Where are Lucy and the others? Could something have happened to them?"

Places like bars had people from all walks of life.

"What could happen?" Simon sneered and pointed in a certain direction. "Look over there."

Samuel looked in the direction of Simon's finger and spotted Lucy Leigh's group. As it turned out, at some point, they had gone over to Jeremy's table and were drinking happily with him.

Samuel slammed his palm on the table and stood up, heading toward Lucy and the other three girls.

"Hey, Samuel!" Noticing that something was wrong, Simon quickly chased after Samuel.

Robert and the other roommate also hastened over.

"Lucy, what are you doing?" Samuel looked at the girl wearing shorts that revealed her tanned thighs. She was standing on the couch and twerking merrily. "You said you wanted to come to Elephant Bar to have fun and told me to bring you here. Yet now, you're drinking with someone else?"

"What do you mean by what am I doing?" Lucy looked at Samuel with disdain. "You brought me here? You brought me here to have fun, but you only ordered 12 bottles of beer? How embarrassing!"

"Ha-ha!" Jeremy burst into laughter. "Didn't I already tell you guys? Don't try to pick up girls if you're poor. Elephant Bar is not the place for you to hang out."

Robert stood aside, taking in the intense contempt in Jeremy's gaze and the attitude of the four girls toward Samuel.

they pondered.

Under the flickering lights and amid the booming music, over a dozen sexily-dressed young women holding glowing bottles of Armand de Brignac sashayed toward Robert's table.

Robert's three roommates, sitting beside him, didn't even know how to express their feelings at this point. They had never imagined such a scene where they could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in one go!

"Hundreds of thousands of dollars! We'll probably never even earn that much money in our lifetime!" they mused.

Even the bar owner rushed over to toast Robert and called him by his name in a particularly amiable tone. The sexily-dressed beautiful ladies kept winking at Robert, whereas the other customers who spent nearly 1,500 dollars in the bar looked at Robert with envy.

Robert could sense various gazes on him, something he had never experienced before.

Lucy and her three friends also approached Robert with fawning expressions.

Chapter 5 Robert The Social Climber

"Who asked you to come here?" Robert glanced at Lucy and the other three girls.

Robert's piercing gaze terrified the four of them, and they instantly moved to the table beside them.

Samuel felt bad and said to Robert, "Let them come here. We were supposed to have fun together."

"Since you're the one who asked, no problem, Samuel," Robert readily agreed with a chuckle.

With Robert's consent, Lucy and the other three girls ran over happily. The first thing they did was to take selfies as they couldn't possibly miss out on a chance to flex something so honorable on Instagram.

As they posed in various sexy poses in front of Robert, he closed his eyes and murmured, "Marilyn, you really gave me a hard lesson!"

Suddenly, Robert opened his eyes and gazed at the 88 bottles of Armand de Brignac before him. Normally, one would have the wine safe kept before leaving and bring them out the next time they returned, making one the center of attention again.

But Robert wasn't like other people. He didn't even know that the wine could be kept.

"Someone! Come here and open all of them!" ordered Robert with a wave of his hand.

"All of them?" The waiter was a little confused. "Sir, you can't possibly finish them all."

"If I can't finish them, pour them on the floor!"

"Pour nearly 150 thousand dollars' worth of wine on the floor?" the waiter thought as he stared at Robert, stunned. It was only then that the former realized how real wealthy people acted.

Jeremy, who had acted arrogantly earlier, had a 180-degree attitude change. He approached Robert and stated humbly, "Mr. Zabinski, I was too ignorant before. Please forgive me if I offended you."

Jeremy addressed Robert "Mr. Zabinski".

It was a crazy night of drinking and partying.

Robert lay on the couch with his eyes slightly closed. He recalled the moment over dinner when Marilyn glanced at him with scornful eyes. She was so nonchalant and didn't even bother to spare him another glance, and that made his heart ache.

When Robert woke up, his head throbbed painfully. He was so excited yesterday that he drank too much and forgot everything that followed. He vaguely remembered that Carlos went to the bar entrance and brought him back to his family's hotel.

Massaging his temples, Robert took a glance around. He was in a luxurious room with a soft king-sized bed and a large floor-to-ceiling window overlooking half of Yrinas. The room had plenty of fine furnishings, including a bathtub that he had always wanted to experience but never had the opportunity to see before.

Robert examined the bathtub briefly before filling it with water and lying in it. Warmth washed over him immediately, making him feel immensely at ease. He reflected on what had occurred the night before. He had spent 150 thousand dollars, which was crazy and reckless, but it felt wonderful. The thrill of splurging and the satisfaction of being complimented by others were addicting.

But Robert also knew he couldn't give in to these feelings. Otherwise, regardless of how many assets he had, he would lose them soon. After so many years of struggle, Robert knew that now that he had inherited the family properties, he needed to work harder than before; otherwise, he would be a disgrace to his family.

When Robert took out his phone, he noticed that the class group chat had exploded with continuous messages.

[Have you heard? Barry Rabine has set up his own company. They're going to our school to recruit people on the day of the graduation ceremony!]

[That's so awesome of him to start his own company right after graduation.]

[Considering who Barry's father is; I'm not surprised. By the way, have you guys heard of Zabel Group? Their manager, Kendrick Zabel, will also be recruiting on graduation day. This is an excellent opportunity that we shouldn't miss!]

[I believe Robert has the best chance of getting hired. He has a solid academic record. The counselor will undoubtedly recommend him to large corporations like that.]

[Robert has Marilyn, so I don't think we have to worry about him. Marilyn probably arranged everything already.]

Upon reading that, Robert threw his phone aside. He felt depressed when he saw Marilyn's name. Moreover, Robert had never heard of Kendrick's name until Jeremy mentioned it last night.

Just then, Robert recalled that he had an auction to attend that afternoon. He looked at the clock and saw that it was almost noon. Standing up, he changed into the hotel's pajamas and proceeded to the restaurant.

As soon as Robert entered the restaurant, he saw two people walking toward him.

They were Marilyn and Kendrick.

Marilyn looked stunning that day. She wore a long dress and had light makeup on her face. She was smiling, which made her more attractive. People couldn't help but stare at her because of her pristine aura.

Deep inside, Marilyn was somehow resistant to interacting with Kendrick. Over the years, only Robert truly had her heart.

But Marilyn couldn't refuse the orders from her family.

Marilyn was astonished to see Robert across her. Though she initially kept her distance from Kendrick, she swiftly walked to Kendrick's side and reached out to grab his arm.

Seeing this, Robert narrowed his eyes slightly.

Kendrick smiled, looked at Robert, and mocked, "Interesting. I remember this hotel is quite expensive. But why does it seem like everyone can afford it?"

"I have no idea." Marilyn also glanced at Robert. "Maybe some people think that staying in this hotel will make them a part of the upper class and allow them to climb the social ladder."

Marilyn's light chuckle sounded harsh in Robert's ears.

Almost simultaneously, the three of them walked into the restaurant.

"You moved on quite quickly from your former boyfriend after getting a new man, huh?" Robert remarked, glancing at Marilyn.

Robert's comments caused Marilyn to freeze, but she didn't respond. She wasn't sure how to react to Robert. Since things had come to this point, she decided to let the misunderstanding continue since it was good for both him and herself.

Kendrick let Marilyn enter first courteously, but Robert sped up upon noticing that. He nearly walked in at the exact moment as Marilyn, and he happened to smell her perfume. "Rich people are indeed different. Even their perfume smells like money," he scoffed.

Marilyn stared at Robert and felt that he had changed into another person. She couldn't help but say, "Robert, you don't have to do this."

"Do this? What did I do? How funny." Robert rolled his eyes and nonchalantly walked ahead with his hands in his pocket.

"Marilyn, ignore him." Kendrick walked up from the back at that moment and chose a table. Then, he pulled out the chair for Marilyn like a gentleman.

Almost immediately, Robert sat down at the table next to them, commenting, "How loving."

Marilyn felt uneasy when she saw Robert sitting next to them. She would often gaze at him unconsciously, and seeing him like that pained her. She didn't want to hurt him this way, but she had no choice.

Marilyn was fully aware of Robert's personality. It would be hard for her to end her relationship with him peacefully. If she stayed with him, he would only suffer the consequences. She had no option but to swiftly end things this way.

Marilyn tried her best not to look at Robert, but she kept feeling his gaze on her.

"Excuse me!" Kendrick called the waiter and ordered some dishes smoothly.

"Waiter!" Robert suddenly shouted, forming a sharp contrast with Kendrick's polite, gentlemanly image. Then he pointed at Kendrick's table and said, "I want two servings of everything they ordered!"

There was evident mockery in Kendrick's eyes when he heard this. Soon, the dishes were served.

"You used to call me 'Honey' before every meal, and yet you fell in love with him." Robert uttered on purpose.

"What a rogue!" Marilyn blushed right away and muttered. She thought, "Why is he talking nonsense? When did I ever call him that?"

Robert could see the shift in Kendrick's expression. He had said that purposefully to disgust Kendrick. It was his way of retaliating against Kendrick for acting pretentiously before him.

Grabbing a lobster, Robert said to himself, "You used to feed me the first bite with your mouth. Gosh, how times have changed. You said you preferred eating in my arms. You said you couldn't eat unless I hugged you. I'm not sure if you were speaking the truth. Damn, that slim waist of yours felt so great to touch."

Marilyn and Kendrick heard him word for word. Robert was smiling, and he seemed immersed in his memories.

"Remember that night—"

"Robert, that's enough!" Marilyn suddenly slammed the table and stood up, glaring at Robert.
